Alfi Renewables and MK Group ceremonially opened the Krivača Wind Park today, a 165 million euro investment. Over 150 guests gathered in eastern Serbia, near Golubac, where they were addressed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Serbia, Mr. Damjan Bergant.
In partnership with MK Group, Alfi Renewables, the Alfi Green Energy Fund manager, officially launched the Krivača wind farm, one of the largest in Southeast Europe and the first wind farm in Eastern Serbia. This 165 million euro investment enables an annual production of 310 GWh of green energy, enough to power 75,000 households. The 105.6 MW wind farm comprises 22 state-of-the-art turbines spread across an area of 56 km2.
In an exceptionally short period, just over two years, we have launched a wind farm that meets the highest green standards. The use of wind energy significantly contributes to climate change mitigation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to strengthening energy security, the Krivača Wind Park substantially reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 120,000 tons annually. Interestingly, each turbine stands at a height of 179 meters, with blades measuring 74 meters in length, manufactured by one of the leading turbine producers, German company Nordex. We constructed 30 km of new roads, 40 km of power lines, and a new distribution transformer station for the project.
With the Krivača wind farm project, we have introduced two significant innovations to the region's green energy ecosystem. It is one of the first projects financed by a consortium of four international banks: Erste Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, OeEB, and NLB. Additionally, electricity sales under a long-term contract (PPA) were concluded with AXPO, one of the largest energy companies in Switzerland, marking one of the first in the region.
At the opening, Tomaž Berločnik, partner at Alfi Renewables d.o.o and President of the Investment Committee of the Alfi Green Fund, emphasized: “Alfi Renewables, the manager of the Alfi Green Fund, the largest regional fund for investing in renewable energy sources, together with our partners at MK Group, is fulfilling its mission in Serbia with one of its first investments. And that mission is to improve the living environment. We are proud that, with our expertise and excellent collaboration with the local community, the state, suppliers, Serbian energy companies, and network operators EPS and EMS, despite challenging market conditions, we have succeeded fully. Together, we have built one of the largest green energy projects in the entire region, significantly contributing to the green energy transition. Our Alfi Green Fund, which has raised 104 million euros, with 80% of the money invested by Slovenian private and institutional investors, has acquired new projects faster than expected, addressing the investment potential of around 300 MW of installed capacity. Therefore, we are already planning an even larger fund for the coming year to further address the necessary investment in green renewable energy sources.”
